The Donkey And The King
A Story of Redemption
By: Lorilyn Robert Illustrated by: Linda S. DiFranco

the donkey and the kingIn The Donkey and the King, Lorilyn Roberts teaches Jesus’ love and forgiveness to children through a cast of small animals. Baruch thought the world was better on the other side of the way he was living, so he decided to take off and see what the future held for him. He thought he would be free and no one could tell him what to do. He soon finds out that life is not what it’s cracked up to be in the world. He misses his friends and the safety of his home.

On his journey he meets a sheep that was sent by the King to find Baruch, which really scares Baruch because he couldn’t figure out why the King, who didn’t even know him, would send the sheep to find him. This couldn’t be good!

This book is absolutely precious! I love the beautiful story of Baruch the donkey and how he found forgiveness in his life. Of course my almost 3 year old niece has a donkey named Jake, so she wouldn’t hear of this one’s name being Baruch, it was Jake for her! (sorry Lorilyn, I couldn’t convince her J).  She adores this book and carries it around with her a lot. She reads it herself now, looking at the pictures and telling her own story. The story of Baruch is beautiful and has a wonderful message, the colors are captivating and will capture the interest of children. And the sweet adorable animals on the front of the book will have your child begging for this adorable book.

I highly recommend this book for your child’s library. You just can’t go wrong having a strong Bible based book teaching children the truth of the love and forgiveness of Jesus, and why we really celebrate Christmas. And it also teaches the valuable lesson of being content, that things are not always better with someone else or in another situation. I can’t say enough about the illustrations in the book either! The animals are so cute and adorable and the colors are beautifully blended together. You just gotta see this book to believe it!

I want to thank the author Lorilyn Roberts for providing a copy of this book for me to read and review. I was not expected or required to give a positive review. The opinions in this review are mine only.

Faith Builders Bible, NIrV

faith builders bible
A new NIrV Bible for kids 6-10 that follows the popular brick-building trend.

The Faith Builders Bible, NIrV uses the popularity of brick-building pieces to engage children with the Word of God. Includes 24 full-color pages of illustrations plus the complete New International Reader’s Version (NIrV) of the Bible (from Genesis to Revelation) in a very readable, 9-point font size.

My Thoughts!

This is a little bit different Bible than I’ve reviewed previously, with the legos type picture on the front as well as throughout the Bible. The NIrV is like the NIV, only its the readers version. It has 24 double sided pages with Bible scenes made from Legos, some of which are, Noah, The Nativity, Jesus Walks on the Water and so many more! And there is a Building Block Verse of each of these pages as well. All in all, it is a pretty neat Bible for kids, though I do think it would be for the older kids, because the font is smaller than a lot of kids Bible fonts, and not so easy to read for little ones just starting to read.

I rec’d this Bible from BookLook Bloggers and Zondervan to read and review. The opinions here are mine alone.

I Prayed For You

i prayed for you

by By Jean Fischer,
illustrated by Frank Endersby

Book Description

Did you know that even before you were born, I prayed for you?

Mommies love their babies and pray over them before they are born and for their whole lives. This book will help them share the many ways they have prayed, and continue to pray, over the lives of their precious children.

Mama Bear shares with Baby Bear how much she prayed for her, even before Baby Bear was born. And each and every day, Mama prays and asks God to help Baby Bear grow big and strong, be safe, love God, and be good to others.

From before these sweet babies are born, and for every part of their futures, Mama covers them in prayer. Every spread will share a different prayer, and mamas everywhere will resonate with this eternally important message.

Baby bears everywhere will fall asleep knowing they are loved and prayed over.

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

This is the most precious little book. It is so special to hear mama bear telling her little bear that she started praying for him before he was born, and she still prays for him now, and will continue praying for him in the future. And the illustrations are so awesome. As you read this book to your child, they will love seeing the beautiful pictures to go with each page. I love how this little board book tells children how they are prayed for. If you are looking for special books to buy for your children, this is one you need to check out. It is a beautiful and sweet book inside and out.

Book Description

Bestselling The Beginner’s Bible brand pack for young readers that includes the complete New International Reader’s Version Holy Bible, and 365-day devotional.

This pack contains a hardcover full-text Bible and a softcover 365-day devotional.

Based on The Beginner’s Bible brand, the NIrV Beginner’s Bible, Holy Bible is a perfect first Bible for a child. With easy-to-read print and full-page illustrations, children will better understand stories in Scripture. Using the complete text of the New International Reader’s Version (NIrV), this Bible pairs beautifully with The Beginner’s Bible: Kid-Sized Devotions to encourage lifelong Bible reading habits. Simple connections to Scripture make the content relevant and understandable for young readers. Each of the 365 devotions has a theme to which the Bible passage, story and art relate. The NIrV Beginner’s Bible Devotional Pack is a perfect starting point for children as they develop a stronger relationship with God, to cuddle-up with parents or enjoy at church or daycare.

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BIBLE/DEVOTIONAL

This is an awesome Bible/Devotional set for children. I was very surprised and pleased when I rec’d this. It is much nicer than I expected.  The Bible is a full text Bible, written in a little larger font to make it easier to read. And the NIrV has not notes, which makes it great for reading only. The Devotional is adorable. It has a verse for each 365 day of the year, and the devotion is a small paragraph. When my 6 year old niece saw this she immediately started reading the devotions. I love that it is simple enough that she could read it at six years old, yet it is the same Bible promises and truths that we read every day.

If you are looking for a new Bible and Devotional for your child, this is the one to check out. You will not be disappointed in this one!  I received this book from BookLook BLoggers to read and review. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own. Easter Stories and Prayers (Little Blessings)

by Kathleen Long Bostrom

easter stories and tales

Celebrate the real meaning of Easter with your kids. This special edition of Little Blessings books includes four books in one: Who is Jesus, Why is there a Cross, What about Heaven, and What is Prayer.

Each title is designed to help kids learn more about Jesus and his sacrifice for us. This volume includes a special note from author Kathleen Bostrom on how to help kids understand the meaning of Easter and the good news of Jesus’ resurrection.

Full-color art of the adorable characters draws kids in and makes them want to hear the stories over and over again. Scripture references support each answer to the questions so parents can study more.

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

This is a beautiful little book inside and out. The Easter Stories and Prayers has four different stories, with adorable illustrations for each story. Each story is short enough to read at one setting and each story has scripture reference so that you can read the scripture along with the story. If you are looking for a really good children’s book to tell the Easter story, this is one that you will love, and your child will love you for purchasing this wonderful book. What a wonderful addition to an Easter basket.

Or if you are buying this after the Easter holiday, you can still read these stories to you children, and your child will love looking at the pictures. The story of Easter is one that should be told throughout the year, and what better way than having a precious book like this.
